Marketing

We have found that 50% of PrepperNet members come from Meetup.com, 20% comes from Craigslist, 20% comes from Facebook and 10% from others telling people about PrepperNet.

Pick a date

Choosing the right date is crucial for your meetup to be successful. First, think about what season is the most natural fit for your event.

Find a venue.

PrepperNet suggested that most of your meetups be in restaurants so people can sit and break bread together and network.  Other venues are great as well. Fire starting meetups should not be in a restaurant.

Decide on topic

With your venue locked in, it’s time to decide on a specific topic for your meetup. For regular meetups, you may want to choose a monthly topic within a broader interest group.

Arrange speakers/teacher (if applicable)

Speakers can make or break your event. While not all of the meetup types require speakers, events like conferences and retreats have speakers to present attendees with new information.

Please remember that PrepperNet’s thought process is 80% networking, 10% training and 10% fun.

Find sponsors (if applicable)

Find a sponsor if you can.

Promote the event

Now that you have most of the behind-the-scenes event work finished, it’s time to promote your meetup group. If you’re not quite sure where to start, we have some quick tips below that might spark new ideas.

  • Use your “contact members” on meetup.com
  • List your meetup on Meetup.com. If you’re interested in creating a semi-regular meetup group in your local area, you may want to consider adding it to Meetup. It’s a great website for new people to find your group through shared interests.
  • Use you PrepperNet Facebook groups and other existing communities. There are likely a few groups or communities you can tap into that already exist. Before you post about your event or meetup, be sure to ask the group admin for permission.

Also, please ask other city leaders how they do it… You should get to know other city leaders that can help.
